The Great Photo Debate: How a simple image sparked our website journey

So… Why a Website?
A few weeks after the crime had happened, here we are. Finally answering the question that’s been floating around like a lost drone:
“Why are you two creating a website to combine your photography?”
Well, friends, this is the origin story. The real reason. The mystery, the madness, the memory card full of disputed masterpieces. Let’s rewind a bit.
The Photo That Started It All
Picture this: two people, one mission, zero clue who took the photo.
You’d think it’d be simple. We each have our own cameras. Easy peasy, right? Wrong. We like to swap cameras like we’re playing musical chairs at a birthday party full of photographers. Andrew’s Sony is the Spielberg of filming, while my Fujifilm is basically Picasso with a lens. He’s got a 600mm lens that could spot a flea on a dog from another postcode, and I’ve got a wide-angle that could capture the inside of my soul and my messy room in one shot.
On this particular day, though? One camera. Shared custody.
We were out with Dive Centre Manly, doing our bit for the ocean during a Dive Against Debris event. Trying to collect trash and, more importantly (for us), collect some non-potato-quality photos for social media.
The camera got passed around like a crying baby, everyone wants it until it starts screaming. After the dive, we sat down to review the shots. Cue the drama.
“I took that one!”
“No, I took that one!”
“Well, I definitely composed it!”
“Yeah but I hit the shutter!”
It was giving: sock-sandal levels of awkward.
This wasn’t a one-time thing either. It kept happening. Photos would pop up, and we’d both go into detective mode. Who took it? Who edited it? Whose creative genius was behind that shadowy shot of the sea cucumber?
Flemish has a saying for this kind of situation: missen als kiespijn—missing it like a toothache. Yep. That awkward.
Then we stumbled upon another photographer’s website. It looked like an art gallery in digital form. Elegant. Clear. Gorgeous. And it hit us: Why not just make one of our own? Together.
Boom. Mystery solved. Cue lightbulb moment.

Why We Started This Website
We’ve always loved documenting our travels and photography adventures. But as our collection grew, so did the confusion, and the desire to have a place to share our work, not just between us, but with friends, family, and fellow wanderers.
Do we think we’re professionals? Not really. Morgane definitely doesn’t. Andrew, though… let’s just say he sometimes gets a bit « hoog in z’ne bol » (head in the clouds) and struts around like Spielberg with a stabilizer.
Still, we wanted a space where both our perspectives could live side by side. Two styles, two eyes, one shared story.
This site is that space:
Part gallery. Part journal. Fully ours.
Building the Dream (a.k.a. Arguing Over Fonts)
Creating this site wasn’t just snapping fingers and uploading pics. It started with long brainstorming sessions, figuring out the vibe, the layout, the feel. We didn’t want it to be another soulless portfolio; we wanted it to feel like us.
Picking the name? That was a journey in itself. We threw around so many ideas, we nearly named it after our favorite dog out of sheer desperation. We even asked you. Yes, you for your opinion, and your input genuinely helped us find a name that clicked.

And then came the logo. Oh, the logo. We knew it had to say everything without trying too hard. Enter Elsa Salvador , the creative wizard who turned our jumbled ideas into something beautiful. She captured everything we couldn’t quite explain, and we’re honestly so grateful. Elsa, thank you for making us look way more put together than we actually are.
Things We Learned (The Hard Way)
This project turned us into accidental learners. Suddenly, we were elbow-deep in web design, photo editing, and trying to figure out what SEO actually stands for. (We’re still not sure. “Seriously Exhausting Operation,” maybe?)
There were late nights, mini meltdowns, and celebratory snacks when things finally worked. But all of it made this site feel more real. More us.
Welcome to Our Corner of the Internet
So here we are. Website live. Camera batteries charged. Fonts chosen (after only 142 disagreements). And the mystery of the “who took the photo?” finally solved, with a shared online home.
We’re so excited you’re here. Whether you’re into photography, diving, travel, or just accidentally clicked on the wrong link. Welcome! Dive into the gallery, read a story or two, and feel free to let us know what you think. We are interested and appreciate your opinions.
This isn’t just our website. It’s a peek into our shared journey, captured frame by frame with a little chaos, a lot of laughs, and hopefully, some photos worth sticking around for.
Let the adventure begin.
